My interest in photography began while I was in Viet Nam in 1968. I bought a Minolta 35 mm camera at the PX and started photographing various images while in that country. After our first child was born I started shooting baby images and her early childhood years. In 1977 we moved to Wilson County which hosts the best county fair in Tennessee. For fun I thought I would enter one of my daughter’s images in the Photography contest, and low and behold won best of show. I continued to enter images in the fair and in other contests for several years and I was still winning ribbons. Not having had any formal training in photography I thought if I knew what I was really doing I could move to the next level. So I began taking evening photography classes at Nashville Tech. During the time at Nashville Tech digital photography began to be taught and I continued down that road with great interest. I’ve been fortunate to meet other professional photographers who have inspired me to continue to improve. I want to especially say thanks to Mike Lawson for sharing his knowledge and expertise.
